Óbuda University has installed its first new, modern water refill station to support health-conscious and sustainable everyday practices. The initiative is an integral part of the Green ÓE programme, which primarily aims to promote sustainable campus operations, reduce plastic waste and support healthier everyday habits.

Small decisions made in everyday university life can have a significant impact on the environment. Easy access to clean drinking water makes it simpler to stay properly hydrated throughout the day, while refilling reusable water bottles can significantly reduce the accumulation of single-use PET bottles.
Why is this development important?
- Easy access to drinking water supports adequate daily hydration.
- The use of reusable-bottle-friendly refill stations directly helps reduce the amount of plastic waste generated on campus.
- At Óbuda University, sustainability is not merely a theoretical objective, but an integral part of everyday operations and university life.
- The water refill stations provide a quick, hygienic and convenient solution between classes, meetings and other activities.
The first water refill station is now fully operational and available to students, lecturers and staff at the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics (1034 Budapest, Bécsi út 96/b, Building A – at the Doberdó út entrance, 1st floor).
The development will continue at the university’s other campuses in the coming period, with additional water refill stations being installed one after another. The initiative contributes to creating a greener and more sustainable university environment.
Further information and the exact locations of upcoming water refill stations are available on the Green ÓE website.
