Sustainable Fashion on the Runway: International Success for the “CIRCULAR FUTURES – Reframing Fashion Show”

Creativity, sustainability, and international collaboration came together at the joint closing event of the TEX-DAN and Green-Tex projects, organized within the framework of the Interreg Danube Region Programme. At the event, lecturers and students of the Óbuda University Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering presented an extraordinary fashion show demonstrating how circular thinking can reshape the future of the fashion industry.

On the first day of the event, the “CIRCULAR FUTURES – Reframing Fashion Show” made its debut, featuring collections created by students of the Institute of Product Design. The showcased designs combined sustainable fashion, circular design principles, and cultural narratives into a unique creative vision. More than just a spectacular runway event, the show delivered an important professional message: the fashion industry of the future must think responsibly about resources, material use, and social impact.

Presented before international project partners and invited professional guests, the collections clearly reflected how sustainability has become an integral part of the design process for the next generation of designers. Through innovative concepts and creative solutions, the students addressed current challenges facing the textile industry while offering fresh perspectives on a circular future.

The event marked an important milestone for the university, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their talent and expertise in an international professional environment. At the same time, it highlighted the essential role of higher education in shaping sustainable mindsets and preparing future generations for the challenges ahead.

The “CIRCULAR FUTURES – Reframing Fashion Show” was not only a fashion event but also an inspiring example of how education, innovation, and sustainability can come together to shape a more responsible future.
