The Óbuda University recently hosted the international project participants of “The House of Engagement and More” (HOME). The professional meeting focused on promoting social responsibility and modernizing student volunteering.
The core mission of the HOME project is to integrate civic engagement into the everyday lives of university students not merely as theoretical knowledge, but as an attractive and tangible opportunity. The initiative aims to shape the mindset of higher education students by building bridges between science and social impact through interactive forums, webinars, online volunteering programs, and intercultural exchanges.
The diversity of participants added a special significance to the meeting. Experts from three universities and five civil organizations, representing six European countries – Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Hungary – shared and aligned their experiences. The partners’ joint work sought to answer the question of how to make social engagement inspiring for today’s generations.
During two days of intensive work, experts built on previous research findings and best practices, reaching an important milestone. At the conclusion of the meeting, the concept of an innovative virtual European community space was outlined, which in the future will provide a platform connecting students and the civil sector. It became clear that cooperation built on shared values and goals can create meaningful, forward-looking results. The discussions held at Óbuda University demonstrated that, through the power of international collaboration, social responsibility can enter a new dimension in higher education, creating long-term value for both students and society at large.
