The Second Day of the “Weaving Circular Futures” International Conference Successfully Concluded

The second day of the joint final conference of the TEX-DAN and Green-Tex projects, titled “Weaving Circular Futures,” concluded with inspiring discussions, international collaboration, and key milestones for the future of sustainable textiles. The event was hosted by the Rejtő Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering at Óbuda University, with the support of the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation.

Moderated by fashion industry expert Réka Szentesi, the conference brought together leading green industry stakeholders, researchers, and international experts from across the Danube region to discuss the future of circular textile solutions.

Throughout the day, participants explored several major topics shaping the future of sustainable fashion and textile production. International roundtable discussions focused on the role of community-driven initiatives in advancing sustainable fashion, featuring representatives of Fashion Revolution Austria, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Experts also addressed the future of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems, with contributions from organizations including EURATEX and Textrade Ltd.

Attendees also gained insights into circular textile services through the best practices presented by Lindström, showcasing practical examples of sustainable business operations and textile lifecycle management.

One of the conference’s most significant milestones was the official establishment of the TEX-DAN Danube Circular Textile Cluster. The signing ceremony marked a major step toward strengthening regional cooperation and accelerating circular textile innovation across the Danube area.

Another important announcement was the launch of the open call for the TEX-DAN “Made in Danube” label, aiming to support and increase the visibility of sustainable textile initiatives within the region.

The event concluded with an interdisciplinary roundtable discussion where representatives from related industries and projects — including CIREVALC, CE-Prince, and Circular Minds — explored cross-sector opportunities within the circular economy ecosystem.

The “Weaving Circular Futures” conference once again demonstrated that the future of sustainable textiles can only be built through international collaboration, shared knowledge, and collective innovation.
