Sustainability is no longer just an educational topic — it has become one of the defining issues shaping our future. This perspective was at the heart of the “Green Future Day 2026 – Our Power, Our Planet” conference, held on April 22, 2026, at the University of Pécs. The event brought together leading representatives of higher education and the professional sector to discuss today’s most pressing ecological and sustainability challenges.
Óbuda University also participated in the conference, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to sustainable operations and environmentally conscious innovation. Sustainability is a strategic priority for the university, with strong emphasis placed on ESG-related initiatives and ambitious goals connected to the international GreenMetric ranking system.
During the professional program, Dr. habil. Rita Kendrovics Bodáné, Vice Dean of the Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering and Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Natural Sciences, presented the university’s sustainability efforts and best practices.
One of the key messages of the conference was that traditional educational frameworks alone are no longer sufficient to transfer a sustainability mindset effectively. The Rejtő Faculty therefore places strong emphasis on project-based and practice-oriented education, helping students transform sustainability into a real and applicable professional competence.
In line with this mission, the faculty will organize its International Project Education Conference for the 10th time on June 4, 2026, focusing on innovative educational methods and the integration of sustainability into professional development.
