
The Obuda University Cooking Competition serves as a community-building event for employees and students, enriching university life through culinary culture and teamwork. Participants cook together, connect, and enjoy informal conversations while collaborating toward a common goal.
The competition was initiated by Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács and is organized annually in early June by Obuda University Nonprofit Ltd. and the Student Government. Around 200 participants typically register each year.
In 2025, the main theme was stuffed cabbage (székelykáposzta). Teams demonstrated creativity and innovation while preparing their dishes. The jury – János Novák (Dormitory Director), Szabolcs Ottmajer (Head Chef, Kukac Canteen), and Róbert Veres (Operations Manager, OU Catering Ltd.) – evaluated flavor, presentation, texture, preparation process, team spirit, atmosphere, respect for tradition, and uniqueness.

NEpTUNKOLJ! M35-Délvidék, and EHÖK.

Special Award: KTI – Institute of Green Flavors, for the best homemade bread (“Bread Queen”).
A raffle was also held, raising HUF 230,000 in total. The full proceeds were donated to support the development of the Zizegők Nursery of Obuda University.
