Air Quality Protection in Focus at the Rejtő Faculty of Obuda University

The conference addressing current challenges in air quality improvement attracted significant professional interest at the Obuda University Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering. The event brought together representatives from academia, industry, and public administration to jointly explore solutions to one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time: improving air quality and reducing industrial emissions.

The conference was organized with the professional coordination of the Association of Environmental Enterprises (KSZGYSZ). From the very beginning, it was clear that the topic holds high relevance for both the national and international professional community. The event was opened by Gergely Hankó, who emphasized the importance of professional collaboration in achieving tangible improvements in air quality.

On behalf of the host institution, Dr. habil. Rita Kendrovics Bodáné welcomed participants and highlighted the crucial role of dialogue between academic knowledge and industrial practice in developing sustainable solutions.

Regulatory Environment and Professional Responses

The relevance of the conference was underscored by the evolving regulatory framework of the European Union, particularly the Air Quality Directive (AQD) and the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). These frameworks introduce new requirements and opportunities for both regulatory authorities and industrial stakeholders.

Participants gained first-hand insights into governmental objectives through the presentation of Nikoletta Keszthelyi. Throughout the day, experts from leading institutions – including the HungaroMet, the National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy, and the University of Szeged – presented the latest technological and monitoring solutions.

The presentations focused on advanced monitoring systems, measurement technologies, and emission reduction strategies, all of which play a key role in shaping future environmental protection efforts.

A Diverse Professional Community with Shared Goals

The event welcomed a diverse audience, including representatives of public administration, regulatory authorities, industrial companies, academia, and students. The strong presence of environmental professionals, engineers, researchers, and students ensured meaningful dialogue following the presentations, contributing to practical and applicable solutions for reducing industrial emissions.

This diversity reflects a broader understanding: sustainability is not the responsibility of a single sector, but a shared commitment.
