Join the Green Wave with a Selfie! – Our Well-being Team Supports a Good Cause

For most people, a green light means that it is safe to go. But for some, the time provided by a single green light is not enough because they move at a different pace. The same green colour that represents freedom for many can represent a daily barrier for others.

In Hungary, an estimated 30,000 people, and more than 17 million people worldwide, live with cerebral palsy (CP). CP is one of the most common causes of persistent physical disability originating in childhood, yet relatively little attention is still given to the everyday challenges faced by people living with the condition and the importance of supporting their inclusion in society.

The Well-being and Equal Opportunities Office of Óbuda University has therefore joined the Green Wave, a nationwide awareness campaign organised by the Önálló Léptekért Foundation and Adni Élmény.

An everyday moment can carry an important message

The campaign aims to raise awareness of cerebral palsy and the importance of social inclusion through a simple and familiar everyday situation.

Between 6 September and 6 October, anyone can join the initiative by taking a photo or selfie at a green pedestrian or traffic light and using it to show their support for the campaign.

On 6 October, World Cerebral Palsy Day is observed in more than 100 countries around the world. Green is the official colour of the day. The Green Wave campaign aims to bring the topic closer to everyday life and highlight the importance of accessibility, acceptance and equal opportunities.

Join the Green Wave!

The Well-being Team of Óbuda University has already joined the initiative. We now encourage students and staff across the university to show their support through a simple everyday moment.

Take a photo or selfie at a green light and send it to jollet@uni-obuda.hu!

A single photograph can help raise awareness of the experiences of people living with cerebral palsy and contribute to building a more inclusive and accessible society.
