Due to the changes and tightening of the ESG legislation after its first year of implementation, it has become increasingly important to create a professional forum at Obudai University where companies can hear regulatory, certification, and corporate perspectives at the same time, presented in a practical context. To support this goal, an ESG professional morning was recently organized.
The event was opened by Dr. Viktória Sugár, Vice-Rector for Sustainability and Strategic Development at Obudai University, who highlighted the strategic role of sustainability in cooperation between universities and the corporate sector.
During the event, Zsombor Lóránd Latorcai, Head of the ESG Authority Department at the Hungarian Supervisory Authority for Regulatory Affairs, presented regulatory expectations and key areas of inspection, with particular emphasis on supplier due diligence and internal accountability systems.
Dr. András Balásfalvi-Kiss, Partner at Grant Thornton, approached the topic from a certification perspective, highlighting the importance of documentation, evidence, and control mechanisms. Meanwhile, experts from Gedeon Richter shared their operational experience, demonstrating how a functioning and auditable ESG system can be built within a complex corporate environment.
Bringing together professionals with different ESG-related competencies at one table made it possible to compare perspectives and examine the same experiences from multiple angles, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Participants also gained detailed insights into the steps required to build supplier risk management systems, the practical dilemmas of designing ESG questionnaires, the challenges of data quality and missing data, and how existing corporate processes can be structured to reflect real, verifiable operations.
It was emphasized several times that compliance is not merely an administrative task but a cultural transformation within organizations, requiring transparent accountability structures, consistent documentation, and the selection of the appropriate software solutions. From 2026 onward, compliance will only be achievable with dedicated software systems. The professional morning provided practical guidance on how mandatory data reporting and risk management requirements can be handled in a systematic way that ensures long-term sustainability and audit-ready operations.
Denxpert is a particularly important company for Obudai University, as it is part of the portfolio of the university’s venture capital investment company, Obuda Uni Venture Capital Zrt. (OUVC). This collaboration is a strong example of the university’s commitment to supporting innovation and sustainability, and reflects the shared goal of closely connecting scientific knowledge with market-driven solutions.
